What do the Power Ratings really mean? How many watts do my speakers handle?

Table of contents

This is an old issue when it comes to pro audio products. The ratings that Turbosound provide are the ones that have been obtained through exhaustive testing, and are given in “industry standard” format, of W continuous and W peak. As the testing signal is a 6 dB crest factor signal, the difference between these values has a 1:4 ratio. The recommended amplifier power would be the “old” W program value, that has a 2:1 ratio with respect to the W continuous figure.
